Goodman Family Childcare & Preschool

My name is Becky Battaglia Goodman. I have been married to my husband David, since November 1994. We meet in college at Western Oregon University. Due to financial hardships, I quit school and started working. I worked as a school bus driver for many years before deciding to be a daycare provider. I am the mother of two daughters, Mikayla, and Monica Goodman. I started my childcare business in 2002 after I was having a difficult time finding quality and affordable childcare that opened early in the morning so I could work as a bus driver. My oldest daughter was one year old, and I made the decision to start a new adventure.

      After a successful two years, our daycare was busting at the seams. We found ours forever home on 212th off of Burnside. Over the years, we have remodeled it to be the perfect home business. We have 1000 SQ feet of daycare space on one side and almost 1000 SQ feet of home on the other side of the house. 

      I got my Child Development Associates Degree and my AAOT. I transferred to Eastern Oregon University to finish my Bachelor of Science Degree in Early Childhood Education and Development. I graduated from EOU, in December 2013. It was a long journey (1990-2013) to get my degree. I am proud of myself, that I went back and finished. I am thankful to my husband and children for supporting me to accomplish a huge goal. They helped me a lot during that time supporting me with daycare and staying up late doing homework.

       My husband and I run the preschool as a team. Our daughters are grown now and help in the preschool when they can. My youngest daughter Monica works as a Lead Teacher around her school schedule. My oldest daughter is an emergency sub and a full-time student at Eastern Oregon University in LaGrande.

       We also have four special members to the family, a chocolate lab named Leah, a Shih-Tzu/ Lhasa-apso/ toy poodle mix named Teddy Bear, an orange tabby named Simon, and a black American shorthair kitten named Katara.

       When we are off work we enjoy nature and love water. We bought a camping membership at Lake Merwin in 2020. We love going there to enjoy the wildlife, trees, and the lake. Our family also enjoys road trips as well on our vacation time.
